On Thursday 3rd November 2022 Real Living Options Association Inc. held it’s Annual General Meeting (AGM). Our long standing President and founding member Elsie Butler has stepped down from the role of President and is remaining on committee as a general member. Her knowledge of the organisation and the disability sector are one of RLO’s most valued assets and we are grateful she is remaining on committee.
Our newly elected President is Russel Imaoka who joined the Management Committee in 2019. Russell has an extensive background in Finance and has served on other boards in Australia and overseas. Ros Kraft is continuing in her role as Secretary and we are grateful to have her skills and knowledge, along with her willingness and happy personality. Patrick Hoare has returned to the role of Treasurer and we are pleased to have his skills and knowledge in this role, along with his lived experience of having a family member who has a disability.
Ruth Pye, Judy Abraham, Nathan Coe and Doug Park have all returned as members and we are grateful for the range of skills and knowledge they bring to the Organisation.
While we have a fantastic range of skills and knowledge on the Management Committee it is important to the values of the Organisation that we have people on the committee who have lived experience in disability. The knowledge a family member has of a child, sibling or parent with a disability is one of the most valued assets the Organisation can have. Over the next 12 months we are hoping to have opportunities to engage with our families and we hope that we can continue to have a 51% representation from people who have a lived experience.
