OUR PHILOSOPHY

Real Living Options is a community-based service which works towards assisting people with a disability to have a home of their own within the community with a lifestyle of their choice which reflects the conditions of everyday life valued by the community.


 

Support Workers (Lifestyle Assistants)

We are always on the lookout for youthful and enthusiastic casual Lifestyle Assistants to support people with a disability aged 18 to 65 in general community access and home assistance. Real Living Options is growing and the need for reliable and support staff is ongoing.

We seek confident people who have initiative, common sense and the ability to encourage and be supportive in varying circumstances. Experience in Mental Health will be highly regarded.

The minimum requirements to work for Real Living Options as a Lifestyle assistant are:

  • An NDIS Worker Screening (or the ability to obtain one)
  • A current Driver’s License
  • A registered roadworthy vehicle with full Comprehensive Insurance
  • A smart phone

We require people who are available for either Monday to Friday, weekends, evenings, and/or sleepover support. Employment is part-time with a 3-month probation period.

Lifestyle Assistant Application Form

All employees must complete the Mandatory NDIS Worker Orientation Module prior to working for an NDIS Registered Provider. This can be accessed at NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission
Applicants who have also completed the modules on Supporting Effective Communication, Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals and the New Worker NDIS Induction Module will be highly regarded.

Employees must notify their Insurer about the use of their vehicle for work purposes to ensure they have appropriate cover.
Disability Worker Screening: To work for an NDIS Registered provider you must have disability worker screening clearance. This can be obtained (at your own cost) online at https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/worker-screening after being offered a position by a registered NDIS service provider.

Co-participation is a vital element of a Lifestyle Assistant's role, participation in activities ranging from everyday lifestyle activities to assist people to attend exercise and or physical assistance for people’s mobility. You will also be working closely with people and their families through the highs and lows of life. To ensure that you are not exposed to a situation that may place you at risk of injury, re-injury or aggravation of an existing physical or psychological condition please identify any current or past condition that may affect your capacity to work efficiently.

Referees

We require three business referees that will be contacted primarily by phone or email. Please provide current contact details. Where possible please ensure you notify your referees that they may be contacted by our service. Referees must hold a managerial, HR, or supervisory position. They cannot be friends or colleagues who work at the same level as you. Referees may be provided once successful employment has been confirmed.
